The second player we put under the microscope in our Value Defenders series.
Bournemouth defender Charlie Daniels may seem about as glamorous a selection as a 2009 Kia Picanto but the guy has quietly gone about acquiring some serious FPL scoring credentials over the previous two seasons. In 2015/16 Daniels registered 3 goals and 5 assists a great attacking return for a defensive player in a side that finished 16th in the PL. Last season this attacking promise continued with a further 4 goals and 3 assists whilst also providing 86 crosses to demonstrate his attacking threat. Meanwhile he delivered 10 clean sheets proving he is also solid at the back. At only £5.0 Million he could prove a great addition to your backline if you’re looking to create a well-balanced Squad.
A quick glance at the stats table from last year quickly shows us his dual defensive and offensive effectiveness:
|16/17 START VALUE||£5.0M|
|16/17 END VALUE||£5.2M|
|17/18 START VALUE||£5.0M|
|SEASON FPL POINTS||134|
|POINTS PER GAME||3.94|
|TEAM SEASON GOALS CONCEEDED||67|
|TEAM GOALS CONCEEDED PER GAME||1.76|
|CROSSES PER SEASON||88|
|CROSSES PER GAME||2.53|
|BONUS POINTS PER GAME||0.37|
The addition of Jermaine Defoe upfront gives Bournemouth a potent attacking threat and increases the goal and assist threat that Daniels brings. Bournemouth’s opening 5 games include a trip to the hawthorns and home games to Brighton and Watford all conceivable clean sheet returns making the Cherries man an even more attractive proposition.
